Mission
The mission of the Elders Climate Action is to mobilize elders throughout the United States to address climate change while there is still time to protect the well being of our grandchildren and future generations.  We are dedicated to using the power of our caring, our wisdom and our numbers to push for strong energy policies that will reduce greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to a level consistent with life thriving on our planet.

Goals
Our goals are focused on approaches to climate adaptation and mitigation: carbon fee & dividend, divestment, and EPA Clean.

History
Elders Climate Action was born out of Conscious Elders Network, our parent organization, in 2014 with the purpose of harnessing the energy, voting power and commitment of elders around the United States to fight for a livable climate for our grandchildren. Since that meeting educators, civil servants, business leaders, grandparents, faith leaders and others continue to come together to join this effort.

Why Now?
The voice of the elders is desperately needed.  Elders traditionally have been leaders throughout human history in focusing attention on the needs of future generations.  Today, short-sighted policies are threatening the generations of our grandchildren and beyond, and the voices of our growing elder population are essential. Join our growing nation of elders.

Grandparents Climate Action Day
Our focus in 2015 was Grandparents Climate Action Day- a gathering of elders on September 9 & 10, 2015 in Washington, DC.  We delivered a message to our nation’s leaders: a call to put aside partisanship and enact energy policies that will slash greenhouse gas emissions and stop the progression of climate change while there is still time to restore a livable planet for future generations.
