Global Climate Strike

September 20, 2019

Learn more about what we are doing for the Week of Climate Action!

Elders Climate Action is proud to be a partner in the September 20 Global Climate Strike. Students and young people are demanding action to address the climate crisis — and they are walking out of their classrooms to make sure they’re heard.
On September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in New York City, students from all over the world will be skipping school to demand that our governments take serious, urgent action to address the climate crisis.
We are facing an epic emergency: runaway carbon and methane emissions are triggering extreme weather violence, rising seas, melting polar caps, acidifying oceans, changing air and ocean currents, water and food shortages.
Students will be walking out of their classrooms. We can join them, walking out of our workplaces and homes to make sure that our collective voices are heard.
Millions of people across the globe will take to the streets to demand their right to a future. We elders will join our grandchildren, children, nieces and nephews, and the youth in our community in this critical intergenerational climate action effort and demand a livable planet for the grandchildren, future generations and all life.
We are all in this together. It will take all of us. We need all hearts and minds working together to solve this climate emergency.
RSVP today to join a strike in your community. If you don’t see an event in your area yet, you can create your own! If you have already RSVP’d to attend the Climate Strike, please do so again using this link so that we can know where the elders are participating.
Get involved or help plan a Climate Strike in your area in September for the week of Climate Action.
