In this Together: Connecting with Your Community to Combat the Climate Crisis with Marianne Krasny

How do I take meaningful climate action? What is my responsibility for the climate crisis? Dr. Marianne Krasny will share her journey to answer these questions as described in her latest book: In This Together: Connecting with Your Community to Combat the Climate Crisis. Drawing on exciting new social sciences research, she will describe “network climate action”, or how we can influence our close friends and family to take climate actions alongside us. In this way, and by living up to our “role-ideals,” we can scale up what we can do as individuals to have a greater impact.

Marianne E Krasny is professor in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, and Director of the Civic Ecology Lab at Cornell University. Her latest book, In This Together: Connecting with Your Community to Combat the Climate Crisis (Cornell University Press, March 2023), explores how an ordinary citizen can influence their close friends and family to take meaningful—and enjoyable— climate action. Dr Krasny loves working with members of her lab to teach environmental education and action online courses for global audiences. She is a Public Voices Fellow, volunteer with Elders Climate Action and Climate Reality-Finger Lakes, Director of Public Outreach and Food Policy for the Climate Action Now app, and an International Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry.
